Over 110 million lei will be allocated from the state budget for organizing and conducting the parliamentary elections of February 24, 2019. Over 70% of this sum will go to remunerate the about 24,000 electoral functionaries.

The money will also be used to organize the work of electoral bodies, namely the district electoral councils and electoral offices of polling places, and to print all the electoral documents, such as proceedings, voter rolls and ballots.

The costs for holding the plebiscite that will be held concurrently with the parliamentary elections were estimated at over 10 million lei. The money will go on ballots, proceedings, ascertaining documents, permits, forms for electoral offices of polling places, security labels and other electoral materials, and to pay the extra staff that will be hired to organize the referendum at all the electoral offices.

The cap on the amounts that can be transferred to each electoral contender in the national constituency is 86 871 855 lei, while to each electoral contender in the single-member constituency is 1 845 000 lei. The general ceiling on financial resources that can be transferred to the bank account “Electoral fund” of the participants in the national consultative referendum of February 24, 2019 was set at 43 450 053 lei.

The runners in the February 24, 2019 elections, namely parties, sociopolitical organizations and electoral blocs competing in the national constituency, can apply for interest-free loans of at most 50,000 lei each. The candidates for MP fielded by parties, sociopolitical organizations and electoral blocs and the independent candidates in single-member constituencies can raise a loan of at most 10,000 lei.
