Election contenders skeptical about WatchDog poll

The election contestants are skeptical about the results of the poll that was presented yesterday by “WatchDog” Community and the Institute for Public Policy. Representatives of the PPPDA said the study was brought into focus in order to manipulate the voters and to present a mistaken voting tendency. Representatives of the PAS said the poll data are too optimistic for their party and called on the citizens not to allow to be influenced by surveys and to go to the polls, IPN reports.

The aforementioned survey shows that if parliamentary elections were held next Sunday, the Party of Action and Solidary (PAS), the Electoral Bloc of the Communists and the Socialists and the Shor Party would enter Parliament, while the Party “Dignity and Truth Platform” (PPPDA) would not pass the election threshold of 5%.

“We have one more month until the elections and if the manipulation campaign is launched again by presenting by a poll a week, in which some are shown to be passing the election threshold, while others are shown not to be passing it, it will be harder for us. But we are calm as our measurements show we will enter Parliament. The question is, with how many MPs,” PPPDA vice president Alexandru Slusari stated in the program “Secrets of the Power” on JurnalTV channel.

Those from the PAS consider the poll results are too optimistic and can influence the voter turnout down.

“The poll looks too optimistic to the PAS. Therefore, we make a call for mobilization. We consider a parliamentary majority formed by the PAS only would be to the limit and would not be comfortable. We hope we will have more pro-European parties in Parliament so that we could form a solid majority for four years. We encourage the people to vote massively in the upcoming elections,” said PAS secretary general Andrei Spînu.

According to the poll carried out by “WatchDog” and the Institute for Public Policy, President Maia Sandu is the most trusted political personality with a score of 38.9%. She is followed by Igor Dodon with 14.5% and Vladimir Voronin with 3.3%. The survey was conducted by phone during June 2-8 and covered a representative sample of 1,154 persons from all over Moldova, except for the Transnistrian region.
