Eight-month national public budget deficit at 2.56bn lei
The revenues into the national public budget in the eight months to August totaled 14.7 billion lei, by 2.2 billion lei less than projected. “Owing to the economic crisis, the collections in the countries of the region fell by 20 - 25%. In our country, the situation is not so critical,” the departing Minister of Finance Mariana Durlesteanu said at a meeting.
The eight-month expenditure amounted to 17.3 billion lei, by 4.1 billion lei less than projected. The national public budget deficit was 2.56 billion lei and was financed from internal resources, the minister said, quoted by Info-Prim Neo. The budget deficit was 1.84 billion lei, the deficit of the budgets of the autonomous territorial units – 2.7 million lei, of the state social insurance budget – 542.9 million lie, of the Mandatory Health Insurance Fund – 174.9 million lei.
The state budget revenues totaled 8.37 billion lei, which is 84% of the projections. The expenditure was 10.2 billion lei or 78.4% of the planned amount. 1.9 billion lei was allocated for paying salaries. 1.2 billion lei was transferred to the budgets of the territorial-administrative units. The spending in the energy sector came to 202 million lei.
A sum of US$46.4 million was used in August to service the foreign debt, while 459 million lei – to pay the internal debt.
