EGPRS and AP Moldova-EU have common objectives – Chisinau officials

The Economic Growth and Poverty Reduction Strategy (EGPRS) and the Action Plan RM-EU have common objectives in the social and economic matters, the deputy minister of economy and commerce, Sergiu Sainciuc, announced about this on Monday Workshop „Synergy effects between EGPRS and the Action Plan RM-EU”. Even IF EGPRS has as main goal poverty reduction at all levels, and the Action plan is rather a political document, they are almost convergent on social and economic issues, the deputy minister noted. Sainciuc mentioned that both strategic documents have as objective the sustainable development of Moldova; moreover, the Action Plan implies as well the successful implementation of EGPRS. Both documents also have as aim to inform the European institutions on their implementation, he highlighted. The foreign deputy minister Valeriu Ostalep confirmed the existence of certain similar points between the Action Plan and EGPRS, and as well certain divergences, which in fact is not a problem specific to Moldova alone. The workshop „Synergy effects between EGPRS and the Action Plan RM-EU” was organized by the Department for Cooperation with RM of the Swedish Embassy in Bucharest. The event is part of a process of consultations held by the Swedish mission. The major goal of the Swedish mission is to get relevant information and to direct the future Cooperation Strategy with Moldova. EGPRS was approved by the parliament in December 2004. The Action Plan EU – RM was concluded on 22 February 2005 and expands on a 3-year period.
