The authorities assure that they will identify additional resources to increase the salaries of university professors from 2025. The network of model schools will be expanded by up to 90 institutions in the coming years. These are the objectives set by the Ministry of Education and Research, which were detailed by Minister Dan Perciun in an interview for Teleradio-Moldova, IPN reports.
According to the minister, the education system in 2024 faced problems, such as the shortage of teachers and the need for additional funding for educational institutions. The priorities for 2025 include the attraction of young specialists and keeping of teachers in the education system.
"We have a backlog that we recognize and the next efforts will have to be directed to the university area, first of all," stressed Dam Perciun, referring to pay raises for university professors.
In order to expand the network of model schools, the minister said that negotiations are underway to attract €30 million for the modernization of institutions. It is in the interests of the authorities when everyone benefits from quality education.
Dan Perciun noted that significant progress has been made in modernizing the infrastructure of educational institutions. In 2024, the renovation of sanitary facilities begun in 140 schools.
