Eduard Musuc remains Chisinau Council's president
Mihai Ghimpu was dismissed legally from the position of the president of the Chisinau Municipal Council (CMC), the Chisinau-based Court of Appeals ruled. On August 11, the court rejected the request of Chisinau's mayor Dorin Chirtoaca to cancel the decisions adopted by the Council on June 6 dismissing Mihai Ghimpu and appointing Eduard Musuc, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Judge Elena Gligor declared the general mayor's request as ungrounded. The court has been presented, as evidence, audio, video and written materials for two hours.
According to the Liberal Party leader, Mihai Ghimpu, the result of the law-suit was obvious after the court rejected the plaintiffs' request to replace judge Elena Gligor.
Mihai Ghimpu's barrister Ion Casian says he'll take the decision to the Supreme Court of Justice, and they may reach even the European Court for Human Rights.
Eduard Musuc did not attend the session. He said, last week, he was leaving on vacation. His barrister, Ghenadie Tatar, refused tom comment the writ, saying it was in agreement with the law.
The law suit stirred controversies, after a TV crew ran into Eduard Musuc getting advice from judge Domnica Manole, in her office, immediately after a session at which she had decide on the request to replace judge Elena Gligor, submitted by Mihai Ghimpu. The request was rejected later by another judge, after Domnica Manole withdrew from judging.
