Leader of the Social Democratic Party (PSDM) Eduard Musuc asserts that he was offered an unofficial proposal to participate in the formation of a new Government. According to him, the offices of prime vice minister and minister of economy were proposed to Musuc shortly before his detention. Eduard Musuc made this statement as part of a press conference held Tuesday November 21, in Chisinau. Musuc mentioned he was requested to consider as well the position of Prime Minister. “In case the country’s leadership refute this information, I am ready to disclose some details”, Musuc said. PSDM leader said he wasn’t planning to make this information public, but after “the immoral attacks” against him, he decided to reveal some information. In this respect, PSDM leader stated that his case is of political nature, being forged at the order of the communist government, and has no success to reach both national and international courts. Musuc is sure the society will soon convince itself of this fact. According to the same source, the party has recently decided to participate independently in the general local elections in 2007. PSDM pleads for consolidation of the democratic forces and center-left pole from Moldova, but this thing has to be made transparently and excluding communists’ participation in formation of this pole. With reference to the elections in Chisinau municipality, Musuc said that the party he heads will promote its own candidates for the position of general mayor and for district mayors, but refrained from naming candidates, mentioning that decisions in this regard will be made by the local and district organizations of the party. At the conference it was also announced that the National Council of PSDM has recently appointed Loretta Handrabura as head of the Council, while Victor Ciobanu, Eugen Roscovanu and Sergiu Caraman – as deputy heads.
