EBRD to implement 10-15 new projects worth EUR 30 mln in Moldova in 2007

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) plans to implement in Moldova a number of 10-15 new projects in 2007, inclusively in the bank sector, agribusiness, infrastructure, to a total value of about EUR 30 mln, says Francis Delaey, head of the EBRD’s Chisinau Resident Office, in an interview given to the economic daily ECO, quoted by Info-Prim Neo. Delaey says the bank will complete certain public infrastructure projects, including those related to road infrastructure. Head of EBRD Mission to Chisinau asserts that certain concepts regarding EBRD’s activity for the next year are underway at present. “We trust that we will succeed in carrying out at least one leasing financing project and one mortgage project. The insurance sector is still at an initial stage and we did not receive any request for financing so far. We are available to analyse investments and loans for an insurance company, if we receive an adequate project”, says Francis Delaey. In 2006, EBRD implemented in Moldova 11 projects under the Trade Finance Programme, valued at EUR 24.4 mln (including IMF financing worth EUR 2.3 mln).
