The Bloc of the Communists and the Socialists has announced the relaunch of the national program “Moldovan Village” that is aimed at modernizing the villages and at improving the lives of people from villages. Under the program, each village will get by 5 million lei yearly and the local public authorities and the villagers will decide how to more efficiently use this money to improve the living conditions. Furthermore, at least half a million lei will be allocated annually for each village for investing in local businesses, IPN reports.
“The national program “Moldovan Village” will consist of a set of actions aimed at developing the national villages so that the living standards of the rural population improve swiftly and are similar to the living standards in urban areas,” Socialist MP Radu Mudreac told a news conference.
The program provides that the drinking water supply services will cover 70% of the county’s territory in 2025, up from 50.7% at present. A public sewerage system will be gradually introduced in villages. During the next four years, 60% of the houses in village will be connected to natural gas supply systems. The party promises to repair 3,600 km of local roads and to light at least half of the streets in villages.
The Bloc’s candidate Aliona Briciag, a teacher by profession, underlined the importance of high-quality education for keeping and developing villages. They are against the closure of schools and are for increasing financing for kindergartens, schools and lyceums and also for health facilities.
