Six countries of the Eastern Partnership (EaP) intend to sign a free roaming agreement that is to be drafted by the end of this year, Tatiana Molchan, secretary of state at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, stated in a public debate at IPN entitled “European integration of the Republic of Moldova, myth or reality?”
“This is one of our priorities and we work actively in this direction,” stated the official.
According to her, it is too early to speak about time limits for launching free roaming between the six EaP countries (Moldova, Ukraine, Belarus, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Georgia). “It is a difficult matter that necessitates time. A lot depends on the operators, investments, cost of rented frequencies, involvement of other partners,” explained Tatiana Molchan.
She also said that all the EaP countries are interested in launching free roaming. With Belarus, such discussions are also held at bilateral level.
The public debate “European integration of the Republic of Moldova, myth or reality?” was held by IPN News Agency as part of the project “Overcoming stereotypes of European integration by communication” that is implemented with support from the Hanns Seidel Foundation.
