Actor, film director and scriptwriter Dumitru Fusu was commemorated in an event held at the National Library on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of his birth. An exhibition of graphic works made by artist Dumitru Fusu, from the collection of the Fusu family, was mounted as part of the event. This can be visited until April 27, IPN reports.

Filmmaker Mihai Poiata said Dumitru Fusu was a complete artist who tried to do everything. It is impossible to speak about Dumitru Fusu as only about a film director or actor.

Academician Mihai Cimpoi noted that Dumitru Fusu was a poet and artist of the nation by excellence. He formed part of the golden generation of “Luceafarul” Theater and was among the first who signed the statement on the union with Romania.

“Dumitru Fusu broke the ice, running away from the classical stage, but was also the actor and film director who carried the theater on his back,” stated writer Iulian Filip.

Veronica Bantas, head of the marketing and sociocultural communication division of the National Library, said hosting such events is an honor for the National Library. “Dumitru Fusu as the legendary artist” is how we entitled this national event at the Arts Show: Meeting of the Literary Club “Homo Aestheticus”. Dumitru Fusu forms part of the golden generation of the theater of the Republic of Moldova,” stated Veronica Bantas.

Dumitru Fusu was born in Parcova village of Balti County on March 25, 1938. He graduated from the theater school “Boris Shchukin” and higher film direction and scriptwriting courses in Moscow. In 1960-1970, with some interruptions, he acted at “Luceafarul” Theater in Chisinau. In 1968, he founded the One-Man Show. He worked as a film director at the studio “Moldova-film” in 979-1984 and organized in Chisinau the International Theater Festival “One-Man Show”. He became a member of the Filmmakers Union in 1976.

She died on January 14, 2014.
