The Dubasari hydropower plant has increased its production capacity to 24 MW, and another energy unit is set to become operational in two weeks, IPN reports.
Local media cites the plant's director, Boris Gherman, who states that the facility is operating normally, as it did before January 1. According to Gherman, the reservoir is filled to maximum capacity, and the flow rate has remained stable for the past six months.
The director also noted that two turbines are currently operational, raising production capacity to 24 MW. Additionally, a third energy unit could be brought online, increasing output to 34-36 MW.
Overall, the plant could potentially generate around 50 MW, but such capacity would only be used in extreme situations. "Currently, production is adjusted to meet consumption needs", local media reported.
As of January 1, residential heating in the Transnistrian region has been cut off, but electricity continues to be supplied. However, due to higher electricity consumption than production, the region has been experiencing rolling blackouts.
