Officers of the anti-drug division of the National Investigation Inspectorate detected drugs to the value of about 4.5 million lei in Bălți. They arrested two members of a criminal group responsible for the drug distribution scheme. Both the detained man and his concubine are from Balti and are aged 37 and 24. The latter was tried in 2022, in the case concerning the TV set containing drugs received from Belgium, IPN reports.

The four types of drugs were seized during searches at the home and in the car of one of the defendants: a package of over 1,700 ecstasy pills, 1.7 kg of MDMA, 1 kg of cocaine and 2 kg of amphetamine. The drugs were transported in a backpack. The officers also seized bank cards, scales and envelopes used for packaging drugs.

The two were placed in pre-trial detention for 30 days, by the decision of the Ciocana Court of Chisinau City. The investigations continue. Meanwhile, the suspects benefit from the presumption of innocence.
