Drivers fined for traffic violations and attempts to bribe police officers

Police have recorded several cases in which drivers attempted to bribe patrol officers. A 22-year-old young man, who was riding a motorcycle while intoxicated and without a driver’s license, was stopped by police in the village of Bestemac, Leova district. To avoid being penalized, the young man tried to offer money, IPN reports.

Another case involves a 31-year-old foreign citizen who was stopped after running a red light. The driver did not have his driver’s license with him and attempted to bribe the police officers with 1,200 lei by leaving the money in the trunk of the police vehicle.

Police also recorded an incident where a driver was using the lane designated for public transport, and another case involving a driver operating a vehicle with improper lighting devices. Both drivers offered bribes.

In all cases, territorial operational teams were called in to document the incidents in accordance with legal procedures.

“Although they are warned about the risks they face, drivers continue to commit serious traffic violations and attempt to bribe patrol officers to avoid penalties,” stated the Moldovan Police.
