Local drains do not cope with the large volume of water as there are no gutters in the upper part of the city and the water flows down, along Albişoara St. Mayor Ion Ceban said that drains were put up on Gheorghe Asachi St up to Pann Halippa St during street repair works, but these are not functional. The mayor blames the former administration of the municipality, IPN reports.

“This is how the former administration of the municipality of Chisinau worked. Today we have what we have. This way, the repair works on Gh. Asachi St were carried out with serious violations,” Ion Ceban stated in the June 6 meeting of officials of Chisinau services.

The mayor said that where the water accumulated after the rain of the last few days, the situation was mainly remedied, but not everywhere. “Work is done on drainage and sewerage systems, but the large volume of water cannot be always handled. In some of the cases, the gutters haven’t been cleaned for many years,” said Ion Ceban, who took up his duties last November.
