Draft new Land Code will be submitted to Parliament in October
President Vladimir Voronin ordered the creation of a working group that would finalize the draft Land Code and will sent it to the Parliament for examination in October. The group will be headed by First Deputy Prime Minister Igor Dodon, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting the presidential press service.
On September 22, the head of state chaired a meeting that centered on the finalization of the draft new Land Code. A new Land Code is needed because the present code was worked out when the economic reforms were only launched and in a specific legislative environment so that it does not meet the current needs. The basic function of the Land Code – privatization of land – is outdated already. Many articles have a declarative character and are inappropriate in the present situation.
The new Land Code began to be drafted in 2001. Central and local public authorities, public organizations and research institutions have been engaged in the drafting process. There were organized roundtable meetings where everyone could express their opinion. The document was also submitted to the World Bank for inspection. After approved by the relevant ministries, the draft Land Code in the new version will be examined by the Government and tabled to the Parliament.
