Dorin Chirtoaca, the candidate of the Liberal Party for the position of general mayor of Chisinau, says that the election campaign for the October 20 elections had a "bitter" taste, "just as the life of the citizens of the Republic of Moldova in the last 30 years". During a press conference, Dorin Chirtoaca stated that, if he had not had a sense of duty towards the fight that he waged for years, he would not have participated in these elections, IPN reports.
Dorin Chirtoaca says that the last straw was on Monday, October 14, at the annual City Fete, when the sponsor of the activities dedicated to the holiday was the real estate company that “for the past two years has appropriated a large number of buildings and land plots in Chisinau which now belong to Vlad Plahotniuc”, former PDM leader.
Dorin Chirtoaca has also said that one of the sad and bitter aspects of this election campaign is the fact that "democracy is not respected". Since the beginning of the campaign, at every step there have been recorded violations committed by electoral contenders: "non-declared electoral funds, occupied public buildings, prohibited symbols, concerts organized from obscure sources, etc." Dorin Chirtoaca has also stated that "electoral authorities have been mute during this election campaign”, as appeals submitted weeks ago are not being examined.
Dorin Chirtoaca urged the residents of the capital to vote consciously on Sunday, October 20, to avoid evil forces taking over the capital.
