Dorin Chirtoaca, the candidate of the Liberal Party for the position of mayor of Chisinau, says he voted for "the continuation of European projects and for Chisinau to emerge from the haze that surrounds it". He expressed his opinion after casting the ballot, IPN reports.

Dorin Chirtoaca urged all inhabitants of Chisinau to come to polling stations, and thus to choose the path to be followed by the capital as well as the City Hall’s head and the Municipal Council’s team. Dorin Chirtoaca believes this is the way democracy works and only through democratic voting progress can be made.

"Democracy cannot offer everything in the ideal way, yet something better than democracy has not been invented so far. Today, the power is exclusively in the hands of the inhabitants of Chisinau municipality”, said the PL leader.

For the position of general mayor of the Chisinau municipality, 18 people are running. As general mayor of Chisinau municipality shall be elected the candidate who has accumulated 50% + one vote. If none of the candidates succeeds in crossing this threshold, the second round of elections is organized, where the winner is the one who has accumulated the greatest number of votes.
