Mayor of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca denied the reports that paid parking places will be built up in all the yards of Chisinau and that the Austrian firm that won the tender contest does not actually exist. He provided details in the talk show “Moldova live” on the public TV channel Moldova 1, IPN reports.
“These are lies. Someone is trying to thwart a European project. The information that paid parking places will be set up in all the yards is also incorrect. It is about the center of Chisinau only. We should discuss now a much more important problem – waste collection. The waste storage site will be soon relocated. It is very hard to deny all the lies,” said the mayor.
Dorin Chirtoaca also said that the firm that will build parking lots exists and has a rich experience. It earlier issued four press releases, but these were ignored by most of the media outlets. “They disseminated lies about the inexistence of the firm through the Internet. I communicated and met with representatives of this firm not only once,” he stated.
Victor Ermuraki, expert of the Institute for European Policy and Reforms (IPRE), who travelled to Vienna at his own expense and could not found the office of the firm that will build the parking places, in the program said there are a number of questions as to the correctness of the tender contest. Also, no study was carried out to determine the alleged experience of the winning firm.
