The allocations for developing the suburban settlements of Chisinau municipality will rise to at least 7 million lei a year for each settlement, the Liberal Party’s candidate for the mayoralty of the municipality Dorin Chirtoaca said in a news conference, quoted by IPN.

“During eight years, we managed to increase the allocations for developing the suburbs from several thousand lei to at least 5 million lei per settlement, regardless of the political affiliation of the local administration. Thus, the infrastructure and transport in the suburban settlements were developed. There were built water pipelines and the settlements were gasified. Some of the suburbs outstripped district centers by their development pace,” said the candidate.

Dorin Chirtoaca promised the political affiliation will not be taken into account when financial resources are allocated for developing the suburbs in the future as well. “The mayors’ connection with political parties is not so important. We will invest in the suburban settlements and will offer them the possibility of following a European course. Anyway, the Liberal councilors won a majority of seats in almost all the suburban settlements of Chisinau municipality in the local elections,” he stated.
