Dorian Istratii: Integration into EU until 2030 is a national goal and government works to achieve this

The Republic of Moldova’s integration into the EU until 2030 is a natural gal and all the government’s actions are aimed at this, PAS MP Dorian Istratii stated in a public debate hosted by IPN.

“During our rule, together with the citizens, we managed to obtain the EU candidate status. Moreover, the day before yesterday the European Commission published it report that clearly shows all the actions taken by our government on the European path. One should be blind not to see such things,” said the MP. He noted that the local elections confirmed that this desideratum is supported at the local level. “

We have a very large number of mayors who won the election by the first round and also have rather many candidates who will contend in the runoffs. We tend to believe that they will win the seat,” stated Dorian Istratii, noting that the local leader sets the tone in the locality.

The MP said the country’s integration into the EU until 2023 is the national goal and the Party of Action and Solidarity’s goal. ”We announced this earlier too. All the steps we do and all the actions we take are aimed at achieving this goal. The integration into the European Union means primarily improvement of the quality of life, of services and infrastructure. We want to do this and act to do this. As the score is good at the national level and in district councils too, we consider the tendency is correct. The actions we take are correct and the citizens see and realize this,” stated Dorian Istratii. He noted that violations were committed in the local elections and some of the election contenders tried to win the election by corruption, but failed.

“We will also take steps to strengthen the national army which was underfinanced the last years, will strengthen national security. Being neural does not mean that the status of neutrality protects us from all the risks that exist worldwide. The countries with the status of neutrality have an army that is stronger even than the armies of countries that form part of NATO. We work to ensure this and will definitely succeed,” said the MP.

As to the results achieved by the ruling party in the local elections, Dorian Istratii said that these are very good.  “The figures show that we considerably improved our rating as this is the first time that the Party of Action and Solidarity contended in these elections alone. I want to avoid campaigning, but I urge all the citizens to go and vote in the runoffs as this is very important for a democratic vote,” stated the PAS MP.

The public debate entitled “Nonlocal stakes of local elections” was the 294th installment of IPN’s project “Developing Political Culture through Public Debates” which is supported by the Hanns Seidel Foundation of Germany.
