Donation of insulin for primary medical assistance institutions and hospitals

A donation of insulin made by the World Health Organization and the Danish company Novo Nordisk arrived in Moldova. According to the donors, this quantity is enough to satisfy the annual insulin necessities of the primary medical assistance institutions and hospitals, IPN reports.

The donation consists of rapid-acting and long–acting human insulin and the preparation Glucagon that are designed to help the thousands of patients with diabetes in Moldova, the WHO Country Office posted on Facebook.

Novo Nordisk provided the WHO with insulin and Glucagon to the value of US$1.3 million for 50 countries, including four countries of the WHO European Region. “The assistance is intended to ensure better access to essential health services, with emphasis on primary medical assistance, in connection with the COVID-19 pandemic because of which millions of patients on the globe have faced problems related to the access to vital treatment,” said the WHO Country Office in Moldova.
