The Communist candidate for Chisinau Mayor, Igor Dodon told a press briefing on Monday that he didn't admit defeat. “A difference of one single percentage point cannot be considered defeat, all the more since most people in Chisinau understand that the results of the June 19 elections have been falsified by the current government through various methods, from compilation of voter rolls to the vicious method used by the election authorities in counting votes”, declared Igor Dodon, Info-Prim Neo reports. Igor Dodon promised that he and his team would “use every available means to defend the votes” cast in his support. “The people's desire to live in comfort and order is increasingly growing. This means that, sooner or later, this will of the people will impose itself. The liberal-democratic government is in agony, it relies on fraud, use of administrative resources and aggression to survive”, said Igor Dodon, remarking that it was the first time that a Communist candidate polled such a large number of votes in Chisinau. Igor Dodon was thankful to those who voted for him for their confidence and support in the election campaign. “My team and I personally will use every legal instruments available to us. And this will be visible in the following hours and days”, said Dodon In a press statement, signed by Igor Dodon and published after the briefing, it is also said that the current government rigged the elections, including through “dirty diversions ahead of elections and mass transportation of voters on election day, including from districts and from Romania”. According to preliminary results announced by the Central Election Commission, in the run-off Igor Dodon gathered 49.4% of the votes, losing by a narrow margin to Liberal Dorin Chirtoaca.
