The documents needed for registering initiative groups for supporting the candidates for President of Moldova can be submitted to the Central Election Commission during September 1 – September 11. A decision to this effect was taken by the CEC on August 25, IPN reports.

CEC secretary Maxim Lebedinschi said the documents can be filed to 119 Vasile Alecsandri St, office 202, between 9am and 5 pm on September 1, 2, 3, 4, 7, 9, 10 and 11 and between 10am and 4pm on September 5 and 6.

The initiative group for supporting a candidate consists of at least 25 persons and at most 100 persons with the right to vote. The group can support one candidate for President. Its members cannot be simultaneously members of another similar group. In the case of political parties and electoral blocs, the initiative group is set up in similar conditions. Several other conditions should be met for the CEC to register the initiative group and to issue permits to the group members within three days of the submission of the list of members.

The presidential elections were set for November 1.
