The presence of Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin in Chisinau is not welcome, but cannot be hindered given the significance of the posts he holds within the relations between the Russian Federation and Moldova, especially when it is made at the invitation of the President. The issue was developed in the program “Fabrika” on Publika TV channel, IPN reports.

Media analyst Cristian Tabara said the other members of the delegation had to be banned entry indeed. “The Moldovan authorities said it clearly that the presence of the delegation of the Russian Federation at the events staged by the unrecognized administration in Tiraspol is not welcome. The Russian ambassador was requested to transmit to Moscow that the delegation should consist strictly of official members,” stated Cristian Tabara.

As to the banning by the Moldovan authorities of the entry of a Russian MP and several artists, ex-member of the Joint Control Commission Ion Leahu said he welcomes the firmness shown finally by the authorities of the Republic of Moldova. “We salute the consecutive actions as the statements were ultimately transposed. I do not remember such an event in these 25 years, when the administration of the Republic of Moldova would be so categorical in achieving the set objectives,” he stated.

Ex-deputy minister of the interior Gennady Cosovan said that under the Vienna Convention, personas non grata can be declared only persons who form part of the diplomatic corps. “For Dmitry Rogozin, it would be a great honor to be declared a persona non grata. He should be deported from Moldova’s territory and get a black stamp in his passport for his whole life and should no longer enter Moldova’s territory,” stated Gennady Cosovan.

Chairman of the Association of Ukrainians of Moldova Mihail Bagas said the Russian Deputy Prime Minister will be met by a group of young people at the airport on July 28. “Tomorrow, not only veterans will come to the airport, but also a large group of young people representing ten organizations, who will “welcome” both the occupants and the President,” he stated.

Dmitry Rogozin is to arrive in Chisinau on July 28. He is to take part in the events that will be held in Tiraspol to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the peacekeeping mission on the Nistru.

On July 27, a Russian MP and a group of artists who intended to take part in the events in Tiraspol and Bender were banned from entering Moldova. They had to return to Moscow from the Chisinau International Airport.
