The directors of the Customs Service and the State Tax Service will be appointed and dismissed by the Government, at the proposal of the minister of finance, not by the minister as at present. A bill to this effect was given a first reading by Parliament on September 9, IPN reports.
The authors of the bill, the MPs of the Party of Action and Solidarity, said the proposed amendments are aimed at achieving the objectives stipulated in the Government’s program in the fiscal and customs areas for which strategic planning, appropriate policy documents and proper cooperation between the responsible institutions and the Government are needed.
According to the authors, the goal is to ensure a common approach and unitary policies in activity. For the purpose, the Government should establish direct dialogue with the managers of the subdivisions of the Ministry of Finance, the State Tax Service and the Customs Service.
