Diplomatic parity // Employees of Russia’s Embassy in Chisinau leave Moldova

Tens of Russian diplomats and their families are leaving the Republic of Moldova on Monday. A special charter flight landed at the Chisinau International Airport and is to transport away the representatives of Russian’s Embassy. Later, the plane will take the diplomats to Moscow, IPN reports, with reference to a photo-video feature published today by Deschide.md.

At the end of July, the Moldovan Government announced that the number of accredited diplomats and technical-administrative employees at the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Chisinau will be reduced from over 80 persons to 25. This way, the number of diplomats and of staff employees of Russia’s Embassy in Chisinau was equaled with the number of diplomats and personnel members of the Embassy of the Republic of Moldova in Moscow. The decision was taken in accordance with the principle of diplomatic parity, which is stipulated by relevant international conventions.

Furthermore, Chisinau’s decision comes as a result of multiple unfriendly actions against the Republic of Moldova, which have nothing to do with the diplomatic mandate, and of attempts to destabilize the internist situation in Moldova.

IPN News Agency staged a public debate on the issue and a number of aspects of this theme were discussed in this.
