Dignity and Truth’s Grigoriu demands ‘conclusiveness’ in Laundromat case

Ex-MP Inga Grigoriu of the Dignity and Truth Party has sent a formal note to the Prosecutor General’s Office deploring the apparent lack of progress in the so-called Russian Laundromat case and demanding “conclusiveness”. Attached to the note is the report of an inquiry commission into the case which Grigoriu chaired in 2021.

Also attached is video footage from the commission’s hearing of Veaceslav Platon, who is a suspect in a criminal case opened in Russia.

“We maintain the hope that the representative institution, the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova, is interested in counteracting the money laundering phenomena in our territory, will speed up actions in this regard and will not obstruct the processes started in the previous legislature,” Inga Grigoriu told a press conference.

The former lawmaker also asks Parliament to once again hear the inquiry commission’s report in a plenary meeting, and the Prosecutor General’s Office to initiate the proceedings requested by Russian prosecutors against Platon and other suspects involved in the scheme.
