The experts have dissenting opinions about the Civic Forum’s demands that were made public on February 4 and consider that a part of them are political in character. The issue was discussed in the talk show “Moldova live” on the public TV channel Moldova 1, IPN reports.

Analyst Nicolae Negru thinks most of the demands are very good. “It is an excellent text, but there are points that can be improved. There is a resemblance between these demands and the conditions imposed by Romania and the other foreign partners for unblocking the financial assistance. But I see no need in including the direct election of the President in this text,” he stated.

Expert Corneliu Ciurea said the demands formulated in the Civic Forum do not represent something new. “A part of these demands are politicized. Some of them were written under the influence of the Platform “Dignity and Truth”,” he stated.

Economic expert Viorel Garbu welcomed the demands put forward by the participants in the Civic Forum. “Moldova faces very serious problems, with the state institutions being nonfunctional,” he said.

One of the moderators of the Civic Forum Arcadie Barbarosie, director of the Institute for Public Policy, said the Forum centered on areas that necessitate immediate changes.

The participants in the Civic Forum held in Chisinau last week requested that the government should set up a group for dialogue and negotiation with which to have discussions during the implementation of their demands. Among the demands are to amend the legislation on the banking system and the Penal Code so as to eliminate the risk of bank frauds and to stop money laundering, to hold a contest with an international jury to choose the governor and vice governor of the National Bank of Moldova, to adopt the legal framework for doing reforms in the corruption fighting and justice sectors and to strengthen the rule of law, regulatory and inspection institutions.
