The Diaspora Days will be staged in Chisinau on August 28-30, for the first time. It is organized by the Government through the Bureau for Diaspora Relations, on the initiative of Prime Minister Iurie Leanca, IPN reports, quoting the Government’s press service.

Within the Diaspora Days, there will be held training seminars, workshops, public lessons, exhibitions, fairs and cultural-artistic events and set up recreational places for children and grownups.

The Government will open its doors for the Moldovan citizens on August 28, while the ministers will play host to the visitors and will answer their questions during two hours. On August 29, in a public policy seminar themed “Economic diaspora for Moldova”, the young people from the diaspora, alongside public functionaries, will work out public policies in such areas as financing, pensions and infrastructure. The same day, the Moldovans from abroad are invited to a fair of projects intended for the diaspora at public and international institutions.

On August 30, the Ethnic-Cultural Center “Vatra” will host the Diaspora Festival where there will be held sports competitions entitled “Diaspora Cup” with the participation of the Customs Service, the Ministry of the Interior, and the Ministry of Youth and Sport, a handicrafts fair and a gastronomic theater. In the end, all the participants will be invited to a Romanian round dance of the diaspora.

Bureau for Diaspora Relations head Victor Lutenco said it will be a large-scale event showing that the diaspora is important for Moldova and that every citizen of the country, regardless of the place of residence, is valued at home.

The Diaspora Days in Moldova are organized with the aim of promoting the cultural, touristic and economic dialogue between the diaspora and the country, of mobilizing the associations of the diaspora and civil society so that, by joint actions, to contribute to the sustainable development and promotion of the country at foreign level.
