A 55-year-old man from Lipnic village was found hanged in a cell of the remand center of the Ocnita Police Commissariat. The man was investigated for murder, Info-Prim Neo reports. Olga Baciu, head of the Ministry of the Interior’s press office, said the man was found dead by the officer on duty at about 6am. He hanged himself with a towel from the bed. The Ministry of the Interior opened an internal inquiry to establish the circumstances of the incident and if the police officers are to blame. The man was remanded in custody after he shot a co-villager on April 23. According to the police, the two drank alcohol together and then started to quarrel. The host took his hunter gun and fired at the guest. The man died on the spot.
