The Ministry of Labor and Social Protection offers details regarding the financial aid for the beginning of the 2022-2023 school year. About 25,000 children will qualify for the payments, of up to 4,000 lei per child.
In calculating individual amounts, the following factors will be considered: the family’s needs, the number of children in the family, living conditions, seasonal factors, the severity of the problem, as well as the family’s income.
The Ministry recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) which, among other measures, provides financing for the “Support for families with children” program. This social service is destined for families with children to ensure the growth and care of children in the family environment and to prevent children from being separated with their families. Financial support from the social service can be used to prepare for the new school year.
The size, destination and period of granting the financial aid are established in accordance with the needs identified in the complex assessment carried out by the case manager. The decision regarding the granting and size of the financial aid is examined and approved by the commission for the protection of the child in difficulty, based on the report on the assessment of the situation of the child and the family presented by the case manager.
In order to benefit from this social service, families with children have the right to apply to the territorial social assistance division in the area of residence.
The Memorandum of Understanding with UNICEF will allow the financing of the Social Service “Support for families with children” for 25,000 children from September 2022 to September 2023.
