The woman who fell into the well with her two children was visiting her grandmother, in Rotunda village, Edinet district. After her granddaughter went with her two children into the garden, the old woman cried for help, as in about five minutes she heard noises from the well. The 2-year-old, who was rescued, was taken to the hospital, to the intensive care unit. On Tuesday, August 27th, the little boy was transferred to the pediatrics unit, and now he is out of danger.

Asked by IPN, the press officer of Edinet Police Inspectorate, Svetlana Talpa, stated that the woman, aged 25, was married and her husband was working abroad. The young woman with her two children, a 1-month-old and a 2-year-old, who lived in Edineț town, paid a visit to her grandmother on August 24th. There, the woman was supposed to stay until the return of her husband. On Monday afternoon, leaving the baby in the pram with her grandmother, the woman went with the 2-year-old boy to the garden to give water to the goats. In about 20 minutes, she returned to the yard with her older son. Shortly after, the woman went back to the garden with her 2-year-old son, and after about five minutes, she came back alone to the yard and took her youngest child out of the pram.

She told her grandmother that she would be back immediately. Having waited about five minutes for her granddaughter to return, grandmother decided to go to the garden to look for them. There she noticed the granddaughter's slippers near the well's ring and the lid open.

Approaching the mouth of the well, she heard noises and called the neighbours for help. One of the men, tied with a rope, descended into the well. He got out the youngest baby, who was already dead. The 2-year-old was unconscious and was gasping for breath. Later, upon arrival on the scene, the rescuers retrieved the woman's dead body.
