Prosecutors charged the man from Sculeni, Ungheni, who last week stabbed his wife and their five-year-old daughter. The victims were transported to Chisinau for treatment and their state of health is improving.
Prosecutor of Ungheni Eduard Florea has told IPN that the man is accused of domestic violence and his punishment will be set depending on the gravity of the injuries caused to the victims. An arrest warrant was issued against the man for a 30-day period. He faces up to 15 years in jail. When he was questioned by the police, the man admitted his guilt, but said that he does not remember well all the moments as he was under the influence of alcohol.
Contacted by IPN, press officer of the Mother and Child Institute Doru Dendiu said the girl was transferred from the intensive care section to the septic pediatric surgery section in the morning of February 11. According to the press service of the National Clinical Hospital, after receiving treatment for several days, the woman was discharged on February 11 so as to be near her daughter. She will continue her treatment on an ambulatory basis.
In the evening of February 4, a man aged 44 from Sculeni village of Ungheni district, being under the influence of alcohol, stabbed his wife, whom he is divorcing, and their daughter with a kitchen knife.
