Details about voting in presidential elections abroad

All the 139 polling stations established abroad for the presidential elections are to be opened on November 1. In connection with the pandemic situation, some of the polling places changed the addresses and the voters are urged to visit the websites and Facebook pages of the embassies, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration and the Central Election Commission so as to inform themselves. The voters are also advised to inform themselves about the sanitary rules and the voting particularities in each country, IPN reports.

In a news conference held by the Ministry and the CEC on November 30, it was noted that in Ireland, the problem of opening of polling stations was solved. Moldova’s Ambassador to Ireland Larisa Miculeț said that three days before the elections, the voters were informed that new precincts for the electoral bureaus are to be identified. It was a challenge, but they managed to deal with it and found locations for three polling places in Dublin and for Limercik. The Embassy had to notify each potential voter of the hour at which they can present themselves at the polling place and a timetable was devised. The Moldovan electors will be invited to vote in alphabetical order, by the name.

Moldova’s Ambassador to Spain Violeta Agrici said a curfew was imposed in Spain and movement at night is banned. The hours differ depending in the autonomous community, between 10pm until 6am. The regions, provinces or cities were isolated and access and exist are restricted. The Moldovans will be able to go to the closest polling station. They must have an informative letter (downloaded from the Embassy’s website) with them, in printed version or online, so as to present it if necessary, together with Moldovan identification papers.

Moldova’s Ambassador to Germany Oleg Serebrian noted the address of the polling station in Munich was changed. The citizens with the right to vote who are in Denmark must know that the location of the polling station in Copenhagen was modified. All the voting places were prepared and outfitted with everything that is necessary.

Eugen Vizir, charge d’affaires at Moldova’s Embassy in France, stated that the situation in France is rather difficult. A quarantine regime was introduced across the country in the evening of October 29. Despite the considerable movement restrictions, the Embassy managed to obtain reconfirmation for organizing the polling stations. The voters can see what documents they need to reach the polling station on the official website. They need a movement justifying document and a confirming letter from the Embassy filled out with data by each voter.

Moldova’s Ambassador to Russia Andrei Neguța said that 17 polling stations were established in Russia, four of which are in Moscow and three are in Moscow Region. Other polling stations were opened in St. Petersburg, Sochi, Lipetsk, Tula, Kursk, Kostroma, Reаzani.

Ambassador to Italy Anatolie Urecheanu noted that the 30 polling stations established for the presidential elections in Italy geographically embrace the community of Moldovans in this country.

The representatives of the authorities called on the Moldovans abroad to strictly obey the rules imposed in the host country.
