Deputy Prime Minister Popescu participates in informal meeting of EU foreign ministers

Deputy Prime Minister/Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Nicu Popescu will participate in an informal meeting of the European Union’s foreign ministers in the so-called Gymnich format, which will take place in Prague on August 30 and 31.

“During the meeting on August 31, on the invitation of Jan Lipavský, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic, the country that holds the presidency of the Council of the European Union, we will discuss the geopolitical challenges, the European perspectives for the Republic of Moldova, Ukraine and Georgia (the countries of the associated Trio) and the future of the Eastern Partnership”, Nicu Popescu was quoted in a MFAEI press release as saying.

The Deputy Prime Minister will speak to European top diplomats about the security situation in Moldova and the region in the context of the war in Ukraine, the socio-economic impact on Moldova and the sustained efforts of the authorities in the process of reforms and modernization on the path of EU accession.

In Prague, Nicu Popescu will have bilateral meetings with counterparts from Belgium, Estonia, Slovenia, Sweden, Luxembourg, Spain, Ukraine and Georgia, as well as other high-ranking European and American officials.
