Deputy Premier Popescu on visit to Brussels

Deputy Prime Minister Nicu Popescu, Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, is paying a working visit to Brussels, Belgium, during March 23-24. The official will take part in the second meeting of the EU-Moldova High-Level Political and Security Dialogue, IPN reports.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration said the dialogue is a cooperation framework between the Republic of Moldova and the European Union, which focuses on security and the challenges related to regional security and its humanitarian and economic impact on Moldova.

The dialogue will lay emphasis on the identification of concrete ways for building the country’s resilience, especially as regard cybersecurity, combating of disinformation and strengthening of cooperation within the European Peace Facility and on closer cooperation in combing hybrid threats.

While in Brussels, Nicu Popescu will meet with Gert-Jan Koopman, Director General of the Directorate-General for Neighborhood and Enlargement Negotiations, members of the Cabinet of the President of the European Commission and the head of the Cabinet of the President of the European Council. He will speak about the progress made in fulfilling the nine recommendations put forward by the European Commission and the adjustment of the national legislation to the EU’s.

The minister will also discuss the organization by the Republic of Moldova of the Summit of the European Political Community in Chisinau on June 1 this year.
