The deputy head of the Leova forestry company was arrested by officers of the South General Territorial Division of the National Anticorruption Center (NAC) on charges of passive corruption. The man was arrested when he was receiving 10,000 lei bribe from a business entity, IPN reports.
According to the Center, the man, together with the head of the forestry company, asked 10,000 lei from a local for extending the contracts for the provisions of tree felling services and for allowing this to take away the wood that remains as surplus.
The arrest was made at the forester’s house in Sărata Nouă village of Leova district. The money transmitted under the guidance of the NAC was found on the suspect.
The deputy head of the Leova forestry company was remanded in custody, while the company’s head was classed as a suspect, but is not in custody.
