The departure area at Chisinau International Airport will be expanded. The Minister of Infrastructure, Vladimir Bolea, stated during a TV8 program that the space will be enlarged by repurposing several Duty-Free store areas. Modern inspection equipment, including self-service control devices, will be installed, IPN reports.
"Those Duty-Free stores will be closed, and all their spaces will be taken to expand the entire area, starting with the control zone, followed by the passport control area, self-service control, and then customs," explained Vladimir Bolea.
The minister added that the tender for the terminal expansion project took place in December and was won by a state-owned enterprise. The project is expected to be made public next week.
