The Political Party “Democracy at Home” submitted the required documents and electoral lists to the Central Election Commission for being registered as a contender in the snap parliamentary elections of July 11. The lists include members of the Party “For People, Nature and Animals” (PONA) that is led by Ion Dron, IPN reports.

The leader of “Democracy at Home” Party Vasile Costiuc said the lists contain representatives of the local public authorities, famers and the diaspora, councilors of Bălți municipality, etc. “We will conduct a super-active campaign at all levels. We will go from village to village. There are persons who will represent us with dignity in electoral debates and programs,” noted Vasile Costiuc.

For his part, Ion Dron said the Party “For People, Nature and Animals” will run in elections on a common list with “Democracy at Home”. The electoral threshold of 5% for entering Parliament is one of the highest in Europe and it is hard to reach it in Moldova. The two parties decided to compete on a joint list in elections so as to later be able to ensure the people are better represented in Parliament.

If no other parties file the documents to the CEC today, “Democracy at Home” will be preliminarily under No. 11 on the ballot. The CEC will examine the documents presented by the party and will announce its decision as to its registration as a contender within seven days.
