Around 70 producers from across the country will delight buyers with authentic goods at a fair held on December 7 - 8 in the Rascani sector of the capital, on Miron Costin Street, near the "Sons of the Homeland - Sacred Memory" Square. The fair, titled “Homegrown for Rascani - The Local Producers Fair!”, is organized by the Chisinau City Hall in partnership with EUROCIVIS - the Association of Women in Agriculture and Tourism of Moldova.
Speaking to IPN, Diana Crudu, President of EUROCIVIS, said that the fair will feature producers from all over the country, including Gagauzia, Taraclia, and even two producers from the Transnistrian region.
“We believe agriculture unites us, regardless of the language we speak or our ethnicity”, said Diana Crudu.
Shoppers at the fair will find fresh fruits, grapes, cheeses, wines, honey, traditional smoked meats without artificial additives, sweets, and other delights.
Additionally, visitors can purchase unique holiday gifts, such as homemade cosmetics, essential oils, cozy slippers, wooden tableware and decorations, jewelry featuring traditional plants, and more.
According to Diana Crudu, this season's most sought-after items include locally grown sea buckthorn, pickled watermelon, and sheep’s cheese.
The participants, as Crudu emphasized, are not ordinary vendors but producers showcasing their products and engaging directly with consumers. While fairs do not solve systemic issues in agriculture, they provide a "breath of fresh air" for local producers.
Such events, Crudu added, strengthen trust between producers and consumers by eliminating intermediaries.
The fair will take place in the Rascani sector on December 7-8. The following weekend, December 14-15, producers will welcome buyers at Alunelul Park, while the last two weekends of the month will see the fair set up on Puskin Street, near the intersection with Stefan cel Mare Boulevard.
