The mud collected at the Chisinau Wastewater Treatment Station is good for use in agriculture. Researchers of the Institute of Ecology and Geography of the Academy of Sciences confirmed this. Thus, the Chisinau water supplier decided not to throw the mud, but to offer it to farmers as biofertilizer.
SA “Apa-Canal Chisinau” signed a cooperation agreement with the Institute of Ecology and Geography. Until now, fertilizers made from mud have been spread on an area of 200 hectares managed by the Academy of Sciences of Moldova.
In a communiqué, SA “Apa-Canal Chisinau” says the results achieved within the study and the testing will be used to formulate notices on the use of mud on farmland and to create the normative framework to encourage farmers to wider use the mud as fertilizer.
