Death toll in Moscow concert hall shooting exceeds 90

At least 93 people, including three children, died in Friday’s armed attack on crowds gathered for a concert outside Moscow. The people died from gunshots or from inhaling smoke in the fire that broke out as a result of the attack, the Russian news agency TASS reported, quoting the Russian Investigative Committee.

Following the attack, over a hundred people, including four minors, were hospitalized.

The Russian authorities said four suspects were detained in connection with the deadly attack.

Witnesses say three to five people dressed in combat uniforms were involved in the attack at the Crocus City Hall. Footage from the scene showed assailants opening fire from rifles on civilians running in fear in all directions. The attackers also set the venue ablaze.

The attack was claimed by ISIS, The New York Times reported, quoting American officials.

Authorities in Chisinau condemned the terrorist act and conveyed condolences to the families of the killed and injured. “We strongly condemn the terrorist attack in Moscow, which took many innocent lives. Terrorism cannot be justified. Our hearts are with the victims and their families”, said Mihai Popșoi, Deputy Prime Minister/Minister of Foreign Affairs.
