Two cases of death associated with the novel coronavirus were reported in the first half of April 4. After the meeting of the Single Command Center, there were announced two more deaths. The victims are a man aged 79, a woman from Tiraspol aged 27 and two women from Chisinau aged 57 and 65, IPN reports.
Prime Minister Ion Chicu said that six persons at the National Clinical Hospital and two patients at the Emergency Medicine Institute were put on ventilators.
A number of 161 infections with COVID-19 were detected after processing 681 samples. The total number of confirmed cases now rose to 752.
Of the 161 new infections, 150 are cases of local transmission. A number of 42 new cases were recorded in Soroca alone, 25 of which among healthcare workers. Thirty new cases were reported in Ștefan Vodă, 21 of which among medical staff. As many as 215 employees of the healthcare system have been infected with the novel coronavirus by now.
Four localities – Carahasani, Bălceana, Soroca and Ștefan Vodă – are now in quarantine.
A state of emergency was declared in Moldova in connection with the COVID-19 pandemic until May 15.
