Death toll from COVID-19 reaches 21

The number of deaths caused by the novel coronavirus rose to 21. The Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection in the morning of April 7 announced that two more men, both aged 68, lost the battle with COVID-19, IPN reports.

After the meeting of the National Focal Point, Minister of Health Viorica Dumbrăveanu said one of the men was admitted to the Emergency Medicine Institute in a very serious state on April 3. The second man was transferred to the Emergency Medicine Institute from Glodeni on April 6, also in a very serious state.

Viorica Dumbrăveanu also said that 77 persons diagnosed with COVID-19 are now in a serious state. Also, 40 persons have been cured. Of the 965 infections confirmed so far, 111 are imported cases, while the rest are local transmission cases.

A state of emergency was declared in Moldova for 60 days on March 17. The novel coronavirus claimed 21 lives in Moldova by now. The fatalities include three doctors.
