The Public Services Agency in 2018 issued over 45,000 birth certificates, by almost 2,000 fewer than in 2017. In a response to an inquiry made by IPN News Agency, the Public Services Agency said 23,000 children were boys and by almost 1,000 fewer were girls.
David and Sofia are the most popular first names. Among the popular names for boys are also Maxim, Alexandru, Matei and Artiom, while for girls are Daria, Anastasia, Amelia and Victoria.
