Europe Day will be marked in Chisinau on May 10 and in Comrat on May 17. Traditionally, in Chisinau the events held to celebrate Europe Day are staged in the Great National Assembly Square. Public debates will take place in the European town. There will be taught dancing lessons and lessons to study the European languages, and prepared traditional European dishes, IPN reports, quoting the program of the EU Delegation to Moldova.
In Chisinau, events start at 1pm. Tents will be put up in the European town to provide information about the EU and to display dishes typical of the EU member states. The official opening will talked place at 2pm.
Several public debates moderated by journalist Vitalie Dogaru will be held afterward, on the themes: “Future of the EU – Relations with Moldova” and “What does Europeanization mean for Moldova?”
The holiday will end with a performance involving famous Moldovan artists. In Chisinau, the special invitee of the concert is Romanian singer Morandi. The performance starts at 7pm.
In Comrat, Europe Day will be celebrated in the central square of the town, on Victoria St, where there will be put up tents with information about the EU. The visitors will be able to taste traditional EU dishes and to inform themselves about the projects implemented in Moldova. There will be held public debates entitled “Moldova – EU Relations: Reforms, not geopolitics” and “Identities in a diverse Europe”. A concert will start in the square at 7pm, with the special invitee Jamala from Ukraine.
The events are organized by the European Union Delegation to Moldova.
