The government is considering the gloomiest scenarios and one of them is the rise in the natural gas rate to 14.7 lei. PAS MP Dan Perciun said that if the rate is raised, the Government will provide additional support so that the citizens can pay the bills. The parliamentary opposition noted it is ready to help the government identity solutions so that the Republic of Moldova overcomes the energy crisis, IPN reports.
PAS MP Dan Perciun said that if the purchase price of gas remains high, the revision of rates up will be inevitable. Preliminary calculations show that if the gas rate is raised from 11.08 lei to 14.7 lei, a sum of 700 million lei will be needed to provide additional subsides during the next three months.
“The solution is to cover a part of the bill. There are no other solutions. Under the current subsidizations mechanism, a sum of 700 million lei is needed for the purpose. As a result of economic growth, we see a rise in the amounts collected into the state budget and this money can be used primarily to pay subsidies,” PAS MP Dan Perciun stated in the talk show “Shadow Cabinet” on JurnalTV channel.
For their part, representatives of the Party ”Dignity and Truth Platform” said the political responsibility for the faced energy crisis is borne by Deputy Prime Minister Andrei Spînu, who should resign or be dismissed.
“Mister Spînu turned into a lawyer for Moldovagaz. He went to the talks together with a team of Moldovagaz, which is affiliated to Gazprom. He knew that the contract expires and should have opened talks on the very first days of the formation of the Government. We are ready to lend a hand to identify solutions, but not to justify the mistakes. These two conditions, concerning the halt in gas supplies during 48 hours and the payment of an advance, are ticking bombs placed there on purpose so as to cause an energy crisis each month. The tense atmosphere in society is due to these two points,” stated Alexandru Slusari.
In accordance with the contract signed with Gazprom, the Republic of Moldova by the date of 20 of each month should pay for the gas consumed the previous month and an advance of 50% for the current month. If the payments are not made during 48 hours, Gazprom can halt the supplies.
