A cyclist died after he was hit by a motorist who was driving under the influence of alcohol. The accident occurred on Friday evening in Giurgiulești village of Cahul district, IPN reports.
According to the police, the 36-year-old motorist is a foreign citizen and he was driving a right-hand drive car registered in another country. First, the individual struck the cyclist and then collided with another car.
The victim, a 63-year-old man, died on the spot.
The breathalyzer test showed a concentration of 0.62 mg/l of alcohol in the air exhaled by the driver. The man was detained and the investigations into the case continue to establish all the circumstances of the accident.
