Cutting down trees to continue in Chisinau
The municipal specialized services from Chisinau will continue in the next months to cut down sick and aging trees. In the previous years, usually, these works were interrupted until winter.
The head of the Green Spaces Management, Galina Leahu, mentioned that only the old trees will be cut down, to prevent accidents and to protect from diseases the trees nearby. Especially poplar tree species, elms and American maples will be cut down, species that age very quickly, also said Leahu. According to her, trees which damage the roofs of the apartment blocks will be cut down as well.
The deputy chief of the Green Spaces Management, mentioned that for the moment, the number of the trees that are to be cut down in the next weeks is not yet estimated, but the services will solve quickly the problem if the citizens will solicit their help.
The General interim-Mayor of Chisinau, Vasile Ursu, ordered recently to coordinate the summer tree clearings schedules with the ecologist organizations.
The chairman of the territorial Chisinau organization of the Ecologist Movement of Moldova, Vladimir Garaba, declared for Info-Prim Neo that the ecologists are not against the clearing of the old or sick trees, but they plead for qualitative regeneration works instead.
